FICCI's annual
forum on waste management was launched in 2005, under
the aegis of the FICCI Environment Conclave. The Conclave
has been a platform for facilitating policy dialogue,
business linkages, technology tie-ups and public private
partnerships in sustainable waste management. For the
past five years, the Conclave has brought together stakeholders
engaged across the waste management spectrum under one
platform. The Conclave has laid progressively more thrust
on public private partnerships, the key to success of
waste management initiatives at the municipal as well
as industrial level.
The Conclave is a complete forum for waste management
business across sectors and has emerged as an effective
platform for Indian and global waste management stakeholders
to create business linkages, gain knowledge and establish
their presence in the evolving waste management market.

HIGHLIGHTS OF FICCI ENVIRONMENT
CONCLAVE
FICCI Environment Conclave has been
supported by Ministries of Environment & Forests,
Urban Development and New and Renewable Energy. This
has facilitated a large participation from both industrial
and municipal waste management stakeholders.
The objective of the Conclave has
been to provide a forum for discussion on topical issues
of waste management and find solutions for enabling
greater private sector participation in urban and industrial
waste management services and infrastructure. The second
objective of the Conclave has been to bring together
all stakeholders of the waste management chain for networking
and initiating public private partnerships for waste
management projects. FICCI also launched the MSW Public
Private Partnership Forum in 2008 a forum for
direct interface between Urban Local Bodies and private
waste management operators to share their concerns and
expectations.
The Conclave has attracted international
participation from Australia, Belgium, Finland, France,
Germany, Italy, Pakistan, Spain, Netherlands, Taiwan,
UK and US. It has garnered diverse stakeholder participation
from private waste management operators, industry, government
and Municipal Corporations (Ahmedabad, Ambattur, Coimbatore,
Delhi, Faridabad, Greater Mumbai, Gwalior, Hyderabad,
Indore, Ludhiana, Jamshedpur, Pune, Jharkhand, Kolhapur,
Madurai, Nasik, Rajkot, Suryapet and Vishakapatnam).
